How the mortar estimate works
The calculator estimates the wall volume and subtracts the approximate volume occupied by bricks, leaving an estimated mortar volume. It then adds the waste allowance you select.
Why actual mortar use varies
Brick size, joint thickness, workmanship, wall construction, brick shape and mortar consistency all affect consumption. Openings and changes in wall thickness also need to be considered.
